Who writes this site

The articles are written by a Japan-qualified lawyer who grew up partly in the UK and works in English as part of day-to-day practice, including on cross-border contracts. The site is run anonymously so that it stays independent from any employer or client.

What we write — and what we don't

• We explain how rules and practices generally work in Japan, with links to official sources.
• We compare services using their published information, and we show the date we checked it.
• We do not give advice on individual situations, and we do not take on clients through this site. Please do not send us the details of your case.
